The Gospel of John | Week 17

In Week 17 of The Gospel of John, we step into one of the most powerful and personal moments in Jesus’ ministry — John 13.

On the night before the cross, knowing His “hour” had come, Jesus did something no one expected: He picked up a towel and washed His disciples’ feet.

In a room full of proud hearts and dirty feet, the King of Kings knelt in love.

This message unpacks three life-changing truths from John 13:

Humility. Holiness. Happiness.

🔹 Humility — Jesus knew who He was, where He came from, and where He was going. Because He was secure in His identity, He could serve with confidence. True greatness in God’s Kingdom looks like kneeling love.

🔹 Holiness — Jesus teaches us the difference between being “bathed” (justified) and having our “feet washed” (sanctified). As believers, we’ve been made clean — but we must continually walk in confession, accountability, and communion with Him.

🔹 Happiness — “Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.” (John 13:17) Joy isn’t found in being served, but in serving. Spiritual growth happens when we read God’s Word, live in community, and serve others.

This chapter begins and ends with love:

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” (John 13:34)

If you want to know what life is really about — this is it:

Love that gets down on its knees.

We serve because Jesus first served us.

We love because Jesus first loved us.
