OUR PASTORS + THEIR STORY
Troy has a story full of tragedy and hope. He was driving drunk at 3:00am New Year’s Day 2000 and wrecked. His friend, Matt Jones, was killed in the accident. Matt’s mom, Mary, invited Troy to the funeral and told him, “I love you, I forgive you, and if you give your life to God, He will use it for good.”
After Mary shared these powerful words with Troy, he went to a local church and began to serve. In 2003, Troy had the opportunity to help start North Point Church in Springfield, MO and ended up meeting his wife Lacey while serving! The Hartman’s were on staff at NPC for 11 years, but felt God asking them to leave a place they loved to start a new church. Troy and Lacey, along with their daughter’s Jovi and Jade, moved to Manhattan in 2015 knowing one person.
In the first few months they lived in Manhattan, a team of 40 people committed to help launch Rock Hills Church. Rock Hills officially started September 13, 2015 at the Boys and Girls Club of Manhattan, INC and over the years we have seen hundreds of men, women, children, military personnel and college students find and follow Jesus!
We moved to the local movie theater in 2017 and after several years of month-to-month rent, we were able to purchase our 9 acres of Hope! We are all about stories not stuff and this is a great story.
