Dear Church | Week 1: Ephesus | Don’t Lose Your First Love

What does Jesus really think about the Church?

In this new series, Dear Church, we walk through the seven letters in Revelation 2–3 and discover what Jesus said to real churches facing real struggles—and why His words still matter today.

In Week 1, we look at the church in Ephesus: a church known for hard work, strong doctrine, perseverance, and truth… yet something essential was missing.

They had:

⚡ Truth without tenderness

⚡ Duty without devotion

⚡ Orthodoxy without intimacy

Somewhere along the way, the why got lost in the what.

In this message, discover:

🔥 Why the Book of Revelation is more about present faithfulness than future fear

💡 How churches and Christians can slowly lose passion while keeping appearances

⚔️ The danger of becoming polished without remaining passionate

❤️ What it means to return to your “first love”

🌎 Why the Church is called to shine light outside the walls, not just gather inside them

Key Truth:

Over time, the why can get snuffed out by the what.

Jesus wasn’t calling the church in Ephesus to work harder.

He was calling them back to intimacy, passion, repentance, and mission.

So what do we do?

➡️ Remember your purpose

➡️ Repent of anything in the way

➡️ Redo the same mission with renewed passion

Because church isn’t just about showing up. It’s about reflecting Jesus everywhere we go. Jesus is still walking among His Church today. And He’s still calling His people to be a light in the darkness.

Dear Church… don’t lose your first love.
